"Apple Pages" is Apple's equivalent to Microsoft Word and is part of the iWork suite, which also includes Numbers (like Excel) and Keynote (like PowerPoint).

This also means that users of the Microsoft suite are likely to come across an Apple Pages document from time to time. If you want to see it, you have several options. The easiest option is to upload the file to Apple's iCloud, which is great if you use Apple's service.
But what if you don't use iCloud? Here's how to open and view Apple Pages, Numbers, and even Keynote files in Windows 10.
View pages, numbers or important documents from Apple in Windows 10
If you don't have access to a Mac, you can see the first page of a Pages document, the first sheet of a Numbers workbook, and the first slide of a Keynote presentation. We'll use a Pages document as an example.
When you try to open an Apple Pages file in Microsoft Word, you see the following dialog box.

You can use any zip program such as7 zippers, to extract the files from the Pages folder.

You can insert the image file into a Word document, but you cannot edit the document. The following section explains how to convert Pages documents to Word documents, Numbers files to Excel files, and Keynote files to PowerPoint files.
Convert master pages, numbers and documents to Microsoft Office documents on your Mac
The above method works if you just want to read the front page or worksheet, or scroll in Pages, Figures, or Keynote documents. But if you want to view or edit more documents, you need to convert them to Microsoft Office documents.
If you have access to a Mac, you can convert Pages documents to Word documents in the Pages app. The process for converting Numbers or Keynote documents is the same.
Open the document you want to convert to Pages and go toFile > Export To > Word.

Again, we'll use a Pages document as an example.
Open your document in Pages on your iPhone or iPad and tap the menu button (three horizontal dots) in the top-right corner of the screen.

Convert pages, numbers and key documents to Microsoft Office documents using iCloud
If you don't have an Apple device, you cancreate a free iCloud accountHelog in to an existing account. Then open the appropriate application for the document you want to convert.
The easiest way to upload a document to your iCloud account is to drag it to the browser tab where you run the iWork app on your account.
Once the document is loaded, click the menu button (three horizontal dots) in the lower right corner of the document icon and selectdownload a copy.
In theChoose a download formatdialog, clickWord. This allows you to edit the document on your Windows computer.
If you just want to view the document (after the first page), you can choosePdfHeEPUB.
The iWork app in your iCloud account creates a file for download.

I've been a heavy Pages user for ten years and it's one of the two things I miss about my new Windows box. (The other is Unicode support for the entire ecosystem.)
When my Mac broke down, a replacement Mac was way too expensive. feature for feature I've paid half for a box of Windows... and it's expandable to boot, unlike new Macs.
now i have a way to convert some of the saved files but i can't open them.

Thanks for that. I am a Windows10 and Office365 user, but sometimes I receive .pages files even though I ask users to submit things in Word or Excel.

Installing Libre Office on your Windows 10 or 11 computer opens .pages documents directly. It will also convert them to Word or PDF formats. It opens as a read-only document, and sometimes the document formatting is disabled, but you can fix this in Libre Office or Word after you save it again.
